Support this weekends virtual bucket collection in aid of Support Dogs;
Text Blade 5 to 70085 to donate £5  or click here to donate

Sheffield United are asking fans before their match against West Ham this Sunday  to a virtual collection for Support Dog's work autism, epilepsy & disability.

The club has chosen Sheffield-based charity Support Dogs as one this season’s charity partners and will hold a virtual bucket collection in aid of its life-changing work throughout the match at Bramall Lane.

Support Dogs, whose headquarters are in Brightside, traditionally has its dogs wearing blue jackets. However to get behind the team for their game against West Ham Support Dogs are turning red.

Chief executive Rita Howson explains “Our dogs have worn blue jackets for well over 10 years. The colour was chosen to distinguish ourselves from other assistance dogs such as guide dogs with their yellow harnesses and hearing dogs who wear a red/burgundy jacket. But in tribute to the wonderful support Sheffield United are giving us this season we are changing the colours on our website to red to throw our support behind the Blades.”

“We hope the fans give us their support to by texting “Blade 5” to 70085 to make a vital £5 donation to our work. Fundraising this year has of course been very difficult and we understand that it has been an extremely difficult year for people across the world so every donation will mean so much to the families we work so hard to support.

Their support will help us train life saving support dogs for children and adults affected by autism, epilepsy and physical disability. Dogs like little Blade who has been named in recognition of Sheffield United's support and who's story we want to share with fellow fans of the Blades as he makes his journey through to becoming a fully qualified support dog.

Support dogs make an incredible impact, providing 24/7 365 days a year support and saving the NHS over £19 million a year.  The Charity provides its services entirely free of charge and rely 100% on voluntary donations. It takes two years to train a support dog and approximately £20,000 - Sheffield United are asking their fans to help them raise this amount to cover the cost of Blades training
