Thrill-seeking Andrea Brydon is planning to mark her 40th birthday with the ultimate adrenaline rush – wing-walking.

Andrea, from Evesham, is preparing to strap herself to a biplane for an exhilarating aerial experience at RAF Rencomb in Cirencester in June.

Andrea is a big dog-lover and is hoping her wing-walk will raise £800 for her chosen charity Support Dogs, a national assistance dog charity.

“My friends have been very busy telling me that I need to do something fabulous for 40, and make the year memorable,” says Andrea, pictured left, who works for Robert Welch Designs Ltd in the customer service team.

“My friend Jenn told me that she had found the perfect challenge – wing-walking! I have to say I really wasn't sure to start with, the idea of being strapped onto the top of a plane while the pilot completes a series of stunts made my stomach turn over.

“But I decided to combat my nerves and sign up before I had chance to think too hard about it! Thankfully, I will have the support of Jenn on the day as she is also completing the wing-walk for her own charity.”

Andrea, pictured with her rescue whippet Quinn, says that as dogs have always been part of her life, Support Dogs was an easy choice when choosing which charity to raise money for.

Support Dogs provide and train assistance dogs for people with autism, epilepsy and physical disability, enabling them to lead safer, more independent lives. It relies entirely on the generosity of the public to fund its training programmes, and has a long waiting list.

She adds: “Dogs have a natural ability to calm you and make you laugh and smile no matter how horrible a day you have, and working dogs are the most special, whether they are specially trained police dogs, medical dogs or assistance dogs. Support Dogs do amazing work, and transform people’s lives though their wonderful dogs.”

Andrea has already raised £500 towards her target, and a recent cake bake sale at work netted her in excess of£60.
