SUPPORT DOG RETIRMENT PROCESS
At Support Dogs we recognise and acknowledge that for many of our clients, the retirement of their assistance dog both; suddenly through illness, injury or other issues and because they have reached their expected retirement age of 10years old, can be quite an incredibly difficult, emotional and uncertain time.
We want to support you, your assistance dog partner and wider support network, to plan for your support dog’s retirement in a way that helps everyone to adjust to this major change. We aim to do this in a way that best meets each partnership’s individual needs and experiences. To this end, we are reviewing and developing our strategy for the support and care of our partnerships undergoing the retirement process.
If you are a client of Support Dogs who has undergone the retirement process, we would be so grateful if you could take the time to answer some questions about your experiences.
